Description

Riptide Terrova QUEST is a bow-mount trolling motor from Minn Kota's Riptide saltwater line. Its brushless motor runs on 24 or 36 V: 90 lb (41 kg) of thrust at 24 V and 115 lb (52 kg) at 36 V. Shafts come in 60, 72, 87 and 100 inches (152, 183, 221 and 254 cm), so the motor also suits boats with a high bow.

It is controlled with a wireless remote that has an LCD screen. The GPS system holds the boat in place (Spot-Lock), and the Jog button moves that point by about 1.5 m. Drift Mode keeps speed and course at the same time while the boat drifts, without a drift sock. The motor records and repeats routes and holds a set heading (AutoPilot); the heading sensor is built in.

Through the One-Boat Network it links to Humminbird units that support it and to the app for Apple and Android. The remote shows battery level and remaining run time, and at 20 % capacity the motor suggests Eco Mode, which lowers the current draw.

At sea, the protection of the lower unit matters: the housing is grit-blasted, coated with aluminium and finished in powder coat. The shaft is composite, reinforced with carbon fibre. It comes in white and in black.
